More Info
Spencer Havner was signed by the Green Bay Packers midway through the 2006 season, after being signed and released by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent. He spent 2006 working on the team’s practice squad and did not see any regular season playing time. He is expected to challenge for a back-up position on the Packers’ depth chart at linebacker, a position in which the starting rotation is firmly secure for the future barring any major injuries.

Havner attended college at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), where he was a four-year starter at middle linebacker. He became team captain his junior year and recorded 125 tackles and two interceptions en route to being named a second team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and a semi-finalist for the Butkus Award, giving to the nation’s best linebacker. HAvner majored in business economics while at UCLA.

Havner was born in Sacramento, California, and calls Nevada City, California his hometown.

Havner was signed as a free agent for the 2008 season but was re-signed to the practice squad in October and then signed to the active roster in the beginning of December. He played on three special teams in the final four games and made three tackles throughout this time.
