More Info

Ryan Grant joined the Green Bay Packers in 2007. That was just in time for their run to the NFC Championship. A native of the New Jersey area, Grant played for Don Bosco Prep, and then on to Clarkstown High School in New York. Then it was back to Don Bosco.

Nearly every pro player is in the top rankings for their state when in high school, and Ryan Grant is no stranger to that accolade. He rushed for over 2000 yards, and two dozen touchdowns while growing up. While at Don Bosco, his team went to the state championship game.

Ryan Grant was a multi-sport child, competing in track and basketball. After that, it was on to Notre Dame for Mr. Grant. Ryan was noted for his positive outlook while playing for the Fighting Irish. He saw action as a freshman, which can be a rare thing. By 2002, Grant was the starter, and gained over 1000 yards.

Grant was picked up by the New York Giants in 2005, but didn’t play. He was the victim of a freak accident. As he attempted to stop himself from falling, he severely cut his left arm. Grant nearly died in that incident, and sat out for an entire year. Some doctors didn’t think that Ryan Grant would play football ever again. Grant came back and was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 2007.

An injury to the starting DeShawn Wynn forced Green Bay to play Ryan Grant during a key game against the Denver Broncos. Grant went on to rush for over 100 yards that night and with an overtime win that featured the spectacular Brett Favre touchdown, Grant secured himself a job as starter.

Ryan Grant stumbled in the 2007 playoffs against Seattle, fumbling twice. By the end of the game, he rushed for 200+ yards, and scored three touchdowns. Packers fans quickly forgot about the early mistakes, as the Packers were on their way to the NFC Championship game.

The Green Bay Packers struggled on defense in 2008, but Ryan Grant managed to run for over 1200 yards. He scored only four touchdowns in the sixteen games he played.

Ryan Grant signed a contract to stay with the Green Bay Packers, and will start as running back for 2009.
