More Info
Mark Tauscher was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2000 NFL draft, with the 224th pick overall. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Tauscher has become a fan favorite due to his Wisconsin roots and consistent play at tackle.

Tauscher quickly entered the starting lineup for the Packers as a rookie, filling in for Earl Dotson after he suffered a season-ending back injury in 2000. Tauscher started 14 games for the Packers that year and earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team. He went on to start every game his second season before tearing his MCL in 2002, an injury that ended his year. Tauscher made a strong comeback, however, starting every game from 2003 to 2005 and agains establishing his bonafides as the Packers’ most dependable lineman. Coming into 2007, Tauscher has assumed the role of teacher to many of the Packers’ young offensive lineman, a role that he is sure to relish due to his interest in education and teaching.

Mark Tauscher attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he was a walk-on player his freshman and sophomore years. Despite seeing little playing time, Tauscher worked his way up through the program and into a starting role at tackle his senior season. He helped open holes for running back Ron Dayne, who would set the NCAA record for most rushing yards in 1999.

Because he was a redshirt his freshman season, Tauscher was able to graduate with a degree in history from Madison and begin pursuing a graduate degree in educational administration his senior season at UW. He continues to pursue higher education through UW and has started his own foundation, the TRIFECTA Foundation, which aims to boost child literacy in Wisconsin and promote reading among young people. In his free time, Tauscher enjoys playing golf, tennis, and badminton. He was born in Auburndale, Wisconsin, and attended Marshfield Senior High School.

The change to zone blocking was not tough for Mark to learn. Tauscher started all 16 regular season games in 2007. That makes 9 seasons in the NFL. Mark did leave the Vikings game at Lambeau with an ankle injury, but managed to start the next week. That ankle injury flared up again on November 22nd, against Detroit. At week 10 he joined the 100 starts club. Against the Raiders, the line kept Farve from being sacked. He was part of the line that helped Ryan Grant have his breakout season as a rusher. Tauscher’s down to earth nature doesn’t go unnoticed among the offensive line players that are new to the game.

At the end of the 2008 season, Tauscher became an unrestricted free agent and has not yet been signed to any other team.

He rehabilitated his knee for a large part of the off season, and Green Bay did not pick up Tauscher until a few games into 2009.
