More Info
DeShawn Wynn was slected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL draft, with the 228th pick overall. He is expected to challenge for time at running back alongside veterans Vernand Morency, Noah Herron, and PJ Pope, and rookie Arliss Beach. Wynn missed rookie orientation in early 2007 due to a calf injury, but is expected to be ready to take part in training camp.
Wynn attended the University of Florida, where he rushed for 2000 yards and scored 25 touchdowns over the course of his four year career. Wynn never fumbled in his college career and was a crucial element in the Gators’ march to the 2006 National Championship.
Wynn majored in sociology at Florida and was born in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Wynn rushed for 203 yards in 2007. He came up with a nagging injury, and spent the rest of the season on the sidleines. Getting carries up until the Redskins game, Wynn was trying to find his place in the Packers line up.
Wynn is on the Packers active roster, but his fate is unknown for 2008. Ryan Grant replaced Wynn after the injury, and it would be tough to beat out Grant at running back.
In 2008, Wynn played in several games after continuing to heal and play on the practice squad during the beginning of the season. During the Detroit game in December, Wynn rushed for his best ever yardage with 106 yards on just seven carries. We liked what we saw in the Detroit game are hoping to see him more in the 2009 season and hopefully there will be no more injuries!
