More Info
Chad Clifton is considered to be one of the Packers top players on offense. He is respected by most sportswriters that cover the NFL. In the past 5 seasons, he sat out only a single game. He started at left tackle for the entire Packers season. Aside from missing one series in the fourth quarter of the Chargers game to get his leg taped, one could consider Clifton to be an “Iron Man.” During the 2007 season, he covered the massive Shawne Merriman on September 23rd, he kept him from dropping Favre to the ground for the entire game. Clifton was part of the line that helped Ryan Grant break a playoff yardage record against the Seahawks. Injuries to his shin and shoulder took him out of the game against Oakland, but started the next week. Clifton is a pro bowl level player who could have certainly been in Hawaii for the 2007 season.
During the 2008 season, Clifton was a starter for 15 games as left tackle and aided in Grant’s amazing 1,203 rushing yards and protecting Rodgers so he could pass 4,038 yards all in the 2008 season, making team history. He participated in just shy of 90% of offensive snaps and contributed greatly to the teams success. Regardless of a hamstring injury early in the season, he continued to play on and showed his true colors at Chicago in mid November, covering Rodgers from pressure and not allowing a sack the entire game. We hope to see the same great record breaking offense from Clifton in the 2009 season.
