Brandon Miree
Brandon Miree was signed to the Green Bay Packers practice squad in 2006, and moved from the practice squad to the starting lineup in Week 4 of the regular season to replace veteran William Henderson. A three year NFL veteran, he was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2004 draft, with the 247th pick overall. He suffered a broken thumb in training camp which kept him inactive for the 2004 season. Miree played for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe in 2005, displaying an impressive ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Miree started three games for the Packers in 2006 and appeared in 10, despite suffering a hyper-extended elbow midway through the season. While his primary duty was blocking, Miree did catch nine passes over the course of the season. He is slated to be the front-runner for the starting job at fullback entering 2007, though he will face competition from rookies Ryan Powdrell and Korey Hall. Miree attended the University of Alabama, but transferred to the University of Pittsburgh early in his sophomore year. At Pitt, he excelled both athletically and academically, rushing for over 1900 yards and 18 touchdowns in two years and earning a spot on the 2002 Big East All-Academic Team. Miree graduated from Pitt with a degree in public administration and has undertaken graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Miree attended Winton Woods High School, where he was a football and track star. Brandon was cut from the Green Bay Packers in September of 2007. © 2010 GreenBayPackersTicket.net Terms of Service |
