More Info
Allen Barbre came from a small college, but had big plays on the offensive line. Who has heard of Missouri Southern college? Not many. A fourth round pick, he was one of only three players to come from Southern in the history of that college. During his playing days at Southern, he played multiple positions, but as a Packer, he is listed as left guard.
His skills as a player who finishes out each snap is what stands out. In 2007, Barbre saw playing time in seven regular season games. As with most draft picks, Barbre saw most of his playing time come on special teams.
His hamstring injury during training camp kept him off the field until August 2nd. His first regular season start came on September 23rd against San Diego. He was on and off the active roster throughout the season.
He replaced Mark Tauscher on November 11th against the Vikings. As with most of the back up players, he saw more time during the last regular season game against Detroit. He played the entire second half.
In 2008, Barbre played about half the games in the season, mostly on special teams. In the games that he did play, he played mostly filling in during the last half of the games. At the Chicago Bears game, he had a 17 yard kickoff second quarter. During the Detroit game, he saw more playing time, entering in the first quarter to aid after Scott Wells encountered an ankle injury. Before sustaining an ankle injury of his own during this game, he had a season high of 211 rushing yards to help with the offense.
