Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers was drafted by the Green Bay Packers with their first pick in the 2005 draft. He was the 24th player taken overall. He has occupied the back-up quarterback position on the Packers’ roster since then, playing behind future Hall of Famer Brett Favre. Rodgers attended junior college for one year before joining the University of California Golden Bears in 2003. He assumed the starting quarterback position midway through the season and led the Golden Bears to a 8-6 victory. His junior year, he entered as the starting quarterback and led Cal to a #4 national ranking and a Holiday Bowl bid. Following his junior year, he entered the 2005 draft and was selected by the Packers. Due to his position as back-up to Brett Favre, Rodgers has seen little regular season playing time at Lambeau Field. During the 2006 regular season, Rodgers broke his foot in a 35-0 loss to the New England Patriots. He was inactive for the remainder of the season and just recently was given full medical clearance to engage in practices. Born in Chico, California, Rodgers was a standout quarterback at Pleasant Valley High School. Despite his success, he was not heavily recruited by Division I colleges, and declined an offer to walk on at the University of Illinois. Rodgers got his shot at playing during prime time in 2007. Aaron came in to replace Brett Favre after he went down with an elbow injury. During this high pressure game, Rodgers held his own. Although Green Bay did not win the game, Aaron had two drives that ended with touchdown passes. He seemed to be in control of the game from the moment he came off the bench. Later in the season, Rodgers suffred a hamstring injury, but Favre had come back the week after the Cowboys game, and went on to play the rest of the season, leaving Aaron to ride the bench. For 2008, the Green Bay Packers will start Aaron Rodgers as qarterback. He starts in prime time against the Minnesota Vikings on September 8th on Monday Night Football. We will all see how Aaron Rodgers handles the pressure of the defensive line, the long-time Favre fans, and his team mates. In 2008 Rodgers performed well in his quarterback position, starting in all 16 games and placing sixth in the NFL with a 93.8 passer rating. He scored 28 touchdowns and made 13 interceptions this season to prove to Packers fans he is really the perfect man for the position. He stared his first NFL game against the Minnesota Vikings and had a successful game with 178 yards and one touchdown. At the game in Detroit against the Lions, he had his first 300-yard passing day in his NFL career and also threw three touchdowns in one game. He put in over 4,000 yards in the 2008 season alone and fans are looking forward to seeing him shine again in the 2009 season. © 2010 GreenBayPackersTicket.net Terms of Service |
