Super Bowl XLIV NFC VS AFC

By Packers tickets Paul (02/03/2010 10:13 AM)

It was great to see our Green Bay Packers in the Pro Bowl.  Aaron Rodgers threw a pair of touchdown passes, but the NFC VS AFC Pro Bowl went to the AFC this year.  It's strange to see the Pro Bowl game before the Super Bowl.  The guys already ease up on the tackles, and now we won't see any Super Bowl bound players on the roster, for fear of injury.  Alas, we have seen the last of our Green Bay Packers for 2009.

What's left is one huge game for the New Orleans Saints.  The Colts have won the big one before, so let's root for our NFC Champions.  Good luck New Orleans.

Brett Favre Repeats his NFC Championsip Performance

By www.Greenbaypackersticket.net Paul (01/27/2010 12:49 PM)

The uniform Brett Favre wore for this past year may have been purple, but the outcome of the NFC Championship game was identical to the time when he wore green and gold.  The Vikings were excited to think that they were one game away from the Super Bowl.  Vikings Tickets were in high demand for their single home playoff game.  The road to the Super Bowl went through New Orleans.  No matter, "the Vikings have the best defense and Brett Favre," the fans would declare.

When Favre could have run for five yards, setting up a long field goal for Ryan Longwell, he chose to pass across his body into double coverage.  The ball was intercepted, and all over the world Green Bay Packers fans felt a chill go down their backs.  Favre did it again.  His locker is empty, and the Favre vigil started promptly after the overtime loss to the Saints.

The 2010 Pro Bowl tickets are available now.  You don't have to fly across the Pacific Ocean this time.  The game is in Miami.

Charles Woodson Named Player of the Year for 2009

By www.greenbaypackersticket.net staff writer Paul (01/20/2010 09:28 AM)

Not only is Charles Woodson going to the Pro Bowl in Miami, he was named the Defensive Player of the year by the Sporting News.  What makes this so?  He was asked to cover the best wide receivers in the league, and had to blitz when called upon.  He ended the season with nine interceptions, forced four fumbles, two quarterback sacks, and scored three touchdowns.  He beat out former Green Bay Packers safety Darren Sharper for the title.

Green Bay Packers Wild Card game ends in Wild Fashion

By Green Bay Packers fan Paul (01/13/2010 02:13 PM)

Aaron RodgersWhen the Green Bay Packers were down by 17 points, I doubt that anyone would have expected the outcome to be decided by an overtime defensive play that involved a fumble and run back for a touchdown to end the game 51-45.  This was the highest scoring playoff game in modern history.  The Packers came back from 21 points down, recovered an onside kick, trashed the Cardinals defense, but lost a heartbreaker.  If there was any doubt that Aaron Rodgers wasn't a great quarterback, those doubts are now demolished.  Rodgers threw an interception on his first pass of the game, but went on to throw four touchdowns.

His regular season stats include 30 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions.  He passed for over 4400 yards, and was sacked 50 times.  His quarterback rating was over 103.  Aaron Rodgers will heal up those sore bones down in Miami at the NFL Pro Bowl.  He deserves the title of Pro Bowl player.  Thanks to the Green Bay Packers for an exciting season.

Cardinals Injury Update for NFC Wild Card Playoff game

By Lambeau Field Paul (01/08/2010 09:10 AM)

The Green Bay Packers will face a bruised up Cardinals team.  Rodgers-Cromartie will play with a bruised kneecap, and Campbell has a cast on his hand.  Anquon Boldin sat on the sidelines during practice, and may not play.  Still, the Packers will be up against a team that defeated the Minnesota Vikings during the regular season.

Packers face Cardinals in NFC Wild Card Playoff Game

Green Bay Packers tickets

In this frigid Wisconsin weather, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be than the University of Arizona to cheer on our Green Bay Packers as they once again take on the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday in the Wildcard round of the playoffs.  Yeah, right!  I could never afford tickets to such a game, much less airfare and hotel rooms, you might be thinking to yourself.   Think again!  What most Green Bay Packers fans don't know is that not only are these Packers playoff tickets affordable, they are still available!  Travel packages are going for around 1000 dollars and they are all inclusive!  Wouldn't you love to be able to shake the hand of your favorite Packer as they rush the field to take on the Arizona Cardinals in the wildcard round of the playoffs?  I certainly would.

Green Bay Packers Lambeau Field Home Game 2009

By Lambeau Field Sonja (12/30/2009 01:28 PM)

Green Bay Packers playoffs 2009

In their last home game of the season this past weekend, the Green Bay Packers annihilated the Seattle Seahawks 48-10.  This win guaranteed the Packers a playoff berth, much better news than last season's disappointing 6-10 finish.  The Packers played outstanding football and Mason Crosby restored the team's confidence in him by kicking a 52 yard field goal.  Seattle's playoff chances had been previously dashed and they did not score an actual touchdown until the final quarter of the game.

For the last game of their regular season, the Green Bay Packers will travel to Arizona to play the Cardinals.  The Cardinals have already clinched their division and are currently seeded 4th in the playoff race.  The outcome of the Green Bay Packers/Cardinals game has implications for the other teams involved in the playoffs.  Currently, the Packers have the fifth seed and that is the highest they can go. If the Packers defeat the Cardinals, it is very likely they would play again in the first round of the playoffs. While I would love to see that Packers play at Lambeau during the playoffs, We at GreenBayPackersticket.net have no problem traveling to a warmer climate two weeks in a row to watch the Packers play.

Packers VS Seahawks at Lambeau Field 12/27/09

Mike McCarthy

We Packers fans have moved on from that terrible last second loss to the Steelers.  As Mike McCarthy says "we need 10 wins before talking about the NFL playoffs."  That win may come this Sunday when the Packers play the Seahawks.  Lambeau Field Tickets are available now.  Consider it a last minute holiday gift.  We are hoping for one more regular season win from our Green Bay Packers.  Then we can gear up for a Green Bay Packers wild card playoff spot.

Our friendly staff is available from 8:30am to 6pm central.  Call us at (800)334-5434, and we can get you into the game.  Why not be there when the Green Bay Packers lock a playoff spot?  Happy New Year to all those Packer fans!

Packers VS Steelers | Green Bay Faces Team On The Ropes

By Green Bay Packers fan Paul (12/16/2009 11:48 AM)

Ryan Grant Packers

The Green Bay Packers have switched roles with The Pittsburgh Steelers.  Half way through this season, the Steelers were 6-2, and if they had kept that record up, they would be in position to be divisional leaders.  The Packers were struggling at the .500 mark.  We have our Packers at 9-4 and the Steelers at 6-7, and facing elimination from the playoffs if they don't mange to win on Sunday.

With Polamalu out for the game, the Packers will see a slight edge in the secondary.  Aaron Smith might not have the chance to sack Aaron Rodgers this Sunday.  He's been out for eight weeks and the defense doesn't have a replacement for that gifted young man.

Ryan Grant starts to heat up as it gets cold.  Green Bay will be happy to see that trend continue.  At least he might be the answer to those third and long situations.  The Packers need to avoid the long field goal trys in cold weather.  Mason Crosby has missed a number of kicks this season, and the cold weather could hamper his chances at the long try.  As Roethlisberger has many offensive weapons to throw to, and we lost Al Harris for the season, it looks like Woodson might have to stay in the backfield on more plays.  Finally, Roethlisberger has been sacked just about as many times as Aaron Rodgers.  Thankfully, our offensive line has pushed back hard in the past few weeks.  To me, this game is a toss up. A desparate Steelers squad could prove to be a tough opponent for Green Bay.

Will The Green Bay Packers VS Arizona Cardinals Game Have Any Meaning?

By Green Bay Packers Lambeau Leap Zone Sonja (12/09/2009 03:43 PM)

Green Bay Packers Playoff tickets

On January 3rd, the Green Bay Packers will travel to Phoenix to play the Arizona Cardinals for their last game of the regular season.  The 8-4 Packers are in serious contention for a wildcard spot and depending how the rest of their regular season games go, this game could make it or break it for them. For the Packers to clinch a wild card spot, they simply need to continue winning games.

The Arizona Cardinals are close to clinching their division.  If the Cardinals win against San Francisco this weekend, they will clinch the NFC West division. If this is the case, then the Cardinals could potentially rest their big players for the January 3rd game against the Packers.  We could be looking at a Green Bay Packers playoff ticket scramble.

Aaron Rodgers 2009 Stats Proving That We Have a Solid Quarterback in Green Bay

By Lambeau Field fan Paul (12/02/2009 09:13 AM)

Aaron Rodgers Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodger's 2009 stats are proof to some that the Green Bay Packers made the right decision when they drafted him.  For 2009, Aaron Rodgers quarterback rating is 104.9.  He has 22 passing touchdowns and only five interceptions at the time of this writing.

In the past two games, Rodgers passed for nearly 700 yards.  These were not desperate attempts to regain a lead.  This was solid play, from a sure footed NFL quarterback.  On top of that, Aaron Rodgers has not thrown an interception since the debacle at Tampa Bay.  That same game was his worst effort in 2009.  He ended with a passer rating of 57.6, with three interceptions.

We could compare Aaron Rogers VS Brett Favre for 2009, but I think it's more important to realize that the Vikings have more offensive weapons, and an offensive line that can actually hold the pocket together.  Rodgers has been running for his life in most games.

In the long run, Aaron Rodgers time had come, and the stats are proving Ted Thompson's moves to be correct.  Next up, we have The Green Bay Packers VS Baltimore Ravens.  This Monday night match up will be the second for Green Bay this season.

From there, Green Bay will hit the road and head to Chicago.  That game is a noon start, on Sunday December 7th.  They face the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road on December 20th.  Seattle Seahawks VS Green Bay Packers tickets for Lambeau Field on December 27 are still available. The final regular season Green Bay Packers game will be VS the Arizona Cardinals, on the road.  That game may mean something to both teams, depending on how well they play.

Packers Take Loss At Tampa Bay 11/8

By www.greenbaypackersticket.net (11/24/2009 04:05 PM)

After the tough loss to the Green Bay Packers rival team the Minnesota Vikings, the game the next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was almost too much for fans to bear. The first win in an 11 game losing streak for the Buccaneers was made possible by multiple successful special teams' plays starting early in the game. The loss put the Packers at 4-4 on the season, tying them in second place for NFC North and three games behind rivals Minnesota.

Throughout the game, there were great plays by members on both teams. Aaron Rodgers threw 266 yards and for two touchdowns for Green Bay, also throwing three interceptions with one return for a TD.One example of great playing was late in the game when Bucs rookie QB Josh Freeman led the team on an eight-play, 72-yard drive to give the lead to Tampa Bay (31-28).

Coach Mike McCarthy was stated saying "It doesn't feel good. This one definitely hurt. I'm disappointed in the way we played. We have some recurring problems that we have not cleaned up yet." Packer players and fans are keeping their chins up in the coming weeks and we will hopefully see some wins soon!

Packers Defeat Cowboys On a Sunday Afternoon

By Lambeau Field Buddy Brad (11/16/2009 03:54 PM)

The Green Bay Packers defense came to play on this Sunday Afternoon.  Tony Romo was sacked four times.  Rod Woodson forced a fumble, and intercepted a pass on the goal line.  The Packers had trouble getting things started in the first half of the game, but scored 17 points in total.  That was enough to get the job done, since the Packers defense was keeping the Cowboys from getting anwhere near the end zone.  This win puts the Packers at 5-4.  Next up, San Francisco.

Packers VS Buccaneers tickets | Packers Head to Tampa

By www.greenbaypackersticket.net (10/30/2009 03:29 PM)

Packers VS BuccaneersIt will be The Green Bay Packers VS the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 8th in Tampa.  Tampa Bay has played less than stellar football in the first seven weeks.  In fact, they have not won a game this year.  The Packers will face these lowly Buccanneers the week following the battle at Lambeau Field vs the Vikings.  I wouldn't want to face an angry Packer team if I were a Tampa football fan.  We await the results of the Vikings matchup to see how fired up our Packers will be when they head to Tampa.

Green Bay Packers Roster for 2009 Includes Ahman Green

By Green Bay Packers Buddy Phil (10/21/2009 04:36 PM)

 Ahman Green

Former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green is back in a Green Bay Packers uniform.  No, you are not dreaming, it's true. With the injury to DeShawn Wynn, the Packers Roster was open.  In walks Ahman Green, as he knows the system very well. Every Green Bay Packers fan will remember that Ahman Green is just under 50 rushing yards from the franchise record.  Will Aaron Rodgers hand the ball to Ahman Green?  We shall see when the Green Bay Packers face The Cleveland Browns in four days.

Bye Week Means Clear Spaces at Lambeau Field Parking Lot

By Packers Football and Lambeau Field Fan, Paul (10/09/2009 07:44 PM)

Just because the Green Bay Packers are taking a week off from football doesn't mean that the fans should do the same.  Consider a picking up a ticket to Lambeau Field to see the Packers Hall of Fame .  The Packers tailgate spots are at a premium during game day, but you will find that the lot is wide open this time of year.  As the Packers Prepare to face the Detroit Lions, we find other things to do.

Green Bay Packers ticket sales on the rise

By www.GreenBayPackersticket.net (10/02/2009 03:20 PM)

Green Bay Packers The news stories of the upcoming Green Bay Packers VS Minnesota Vikings tickets being a low priced bargain have come and gone.  It seems that the Packers fans have decided it was a good time to head to the Minnesota to root for their team.  The stories in the local press also featured Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre comparisons.  Let's just see who plays a better game on Monday night in the Metrodome.

Packer tickets for the November 1st game are also in demand, but available through the link.  Good luck Green Bay Packers!

Packers VS Bengals Was One Sloppy Football Game

By Green Bay Packers ticket Man Phil (09/23/2009 07:20 PM)

Charles Woodson

Where can we find a bright spot in the Green Bay Packers loss to the Bengals?  I would suppose that Woodson's performance was stellar.  He had two interceptions, and returned one for a touchdown.  He also led the team in tackles, but that's not necessarily a good thing.  Too many Bengals broke through the line.

Chad Clifton is out for the upcoming game against St. Louis.  The line will have to step up to the challenge.  Atari Bigby is also out for the upcoming game on Sunday.  Green Bay has managed to hold its own when they play their first road game of the season.  In the past three seasons, Green Bay has handed the home team a loss.  We need that to happen again this year.  It is crucial that the Packers go to Minnesota with a winning record.

Packers Squeeze Past Chicago Bears on Sunday Night

By www.Greenbaypackersticket.net (09/16/2009 04:12 PM)

Greg Jennings The Green Bay Packers offensive line has work to do.  After being spanked by the Chicago Bears defensive line, we are happy that the Packers pulled out a win at Lambeau Field on Sunday night.

Aaron Rodgers was running for his life.  He was pulled down to the ground for a safety, sacked, smacked by Urlacher, and pressured big time.  He could not find the time to make proper reads.  His passes were shaky.  There were five dropped balls on top of all those sacks.

Brian Urlacher is out for the season, and if Allen Barbre does not get tough against the rush, we might be watching a second string QB lining up in Green Bay.  Lastly, we all want to thank Greg Jennings for catching the winning touchdown.  With 1:11 to play, Jennings crossed into the end zone.  The two point conversion put Green Bay up by six.  One intercepted pass later, and the game was won.

Tramon Williams had a pick, and so did Al Harris.  Jay Cutler was picked off four times, but that didn't stop him from complaining all night.

The Packers face the Bengals at Lambeau Field this Sunday at noon.  This is the chance for the Packers to show the fans what they are made of.

Green Bay Packers Game Three Tops First Two

By www.Greenbaypackersticket.net (09/02/2009 11:08 AM)

Mason Crosby

I didn't like seeing the stats on the screen when I watched the Green Bay Packers start thier first drive against the Arizona Cardinals.  The announcers were talking about how the Packers were facing their first real test that night.  Cleaveland and Buffalo were both ranked in the bottom 25 last season.  We all know that the Arizona Cardinals represented the NFC in last year's Super Bowl.

Not only did the Green Bay Packers look great in the first half, they scored 31 points before the half.  Aaron Rodgers scampered for a long run, the first half.  He has yet to throw an interception, nor take a sack.  Rodgers left the field with a 155+ rating.  Mason Crosby was the only player to flub for the night, missing a 29 yard field goal.

The Green Bay Packers first home game is against the mighty Chicago Bears.  Lambeau Field tickets are selling fast for that game.  It's a chance to see the Green Bay Packer's rival on what could be a warm night, and early in the season.  The Packers won't face the Bears again until three months into the season.

Aaron Rodgers Looks Sharp as Packers Win Game Two of Preseason

By www.Greenbaypackersticket.net (08/25/2009 03:17 PM)

Aaron RodgersAaron Rodgers threw a pair of touchdown passes, and Ryan Grand rushed for one.  The Green Bay Packers looked sharp and fast this past Saturday night at Lambeau Field.  The last time the Green Bay Packers went 2-0 in the pre-season, they wound up in the NFC championship game.  Let's hope that the same thing occurs this year.

Bargain prices are still out there for Green Bay Packers tickets.  Some of the later games at Lambeau Field are below $100each (at the time of this posting.)  Visit www.Greenbaypackersticket.net for all home and away Packer tickets.

Training Camp in Full Swing for Most Green Bay Packers Players

By Packers Fan Paul (08/05/2009 09:04 AM)

TwitterMost of the general managers in the NFL have been asked one particular question in the past week.  Would they consider picking up Michael Vick?  Some managers jumped out ahead of the situation and declared that they were not interested in Vick.  Others sat silently until asked, and then told the public that they would not pick up Vick.  In the case of Packers GM Ted Thompson, his response was not a flat out "no," but just about as far from a yes as you could get.

Thompson said in so many words that he is always looking for ways to make the team better.  He also said that there is no way he would even consider giving that reporter anything beyond that statement.  Case closed?  I think so. Thompson is on the verge of a make-or-break season.  If he doesn't get the Green Bay Packers back to a .500 or better record this season, he's probably on the way out.

Meanwhile, back at training camp,Packers linebacker Nick Barnett remains sidelined while he recovers from his post-season surgery.  The Packers have decided to keep Barnett off the field for just a while longer. He continues to Twitter his fans between watching film, and watching the others go through their training camp practices.  He predicts that he will see action before the pre-season games are finished.

Quinn Johnson said that this latest Packers practice was "rough."  He is keeping his head together, and knows that he is the "sixth lineman" for now.  "As long as I'm getting the job done, that's fine with me."  When asked if he gets excited after hitting an opponent, he said that he doesn't really notice that until the day after the game when watching films.

Which Green Bay Packers numbers are retired?

By Packer Buddy Phil (07/27/2009 03:01 PM)

Tony Canadeo PackersThe number three was what Tony Canadeo wore while in Green Bay.  He played his college football at Gonzaga.  What compelled The Green Bay Packers to retire his number was his ability to do great things at so many positions.

Canadeo could pass, punt, and return kicks.  On top of that, he was a solid halfback. In 1943, Tony Canadeo led the team in pass and rush yards.  He threw nine touchdowns that year.  It took a world war to stop the juggernaut.  He only played three games in 1944 and missed the 1945 season altogether.

When he came back from Europe, he took the lead in rushing yards, and kept that title for years to come.  His Green Bay Packers records still rank in the top five of all time.  When his number was retired, he led the team in rushing yards.  His 1949 season stands out as the best.  He rushed for over 1000 yards, and had a better than 5.0 per yard average.  He did not catch much that season, but his role had changed to running back exclusively.

In 1952, The Green Bay Packers retired his number.  That made Canadeo only the second Packer to have his number retired.  He lived to the ripe old age of 84.  That's long enough to see the Packer ticket waiting list extend into the decades.  He was part of what led the team to be one of the most famous franchises in the world.

Johnny Jolly Most Likely to Face Charges

By Packer Buddy Jess (07/22/2009 09:26 AM)

Johnny Jolly

Green Bay Packer Johnny Jolly's drug charges have been dismissed for now, but the case is expected to be re filed. The defensive lineman was set to go to trial July 17th for a felony drug possession after being arrested in 2008 for allegedly possessing 200 grams of codeine in his car in Houston.

The case was dismissed last week, so technicians in the lab at the Houston Police Department crime lab can take time to train themselves on new equipment that will measure the amount of codeine in a sample.  Prosecutors hope to use the test results in court when they re file the charges.  The case is expected to be re filed in the next three months but hopefully we still see Jolly this season at Lambeau Field!

Greg Jennins Signs Long Term Contract with Packers

By Packer Fan Jessica (07/02/2009 02:13 PM)

Jim McMahon

Greg Jennings will be keeping his place in Green Bay, as announced last Wednesday by the Packers. The 25 year old wide receiver signed on for a long term contract extension, the terms of which have not been announced yet. With the new deal, he is now one of the highest paid members of the Packers.

Jennings has been a great player, scoring 24 touchdowns and over 150 receptions for 2,844 yards during his three year NFL career. He was also a Pro Bowl alternate last season and scored nine touchdowns in 2008. The team and the fans are looking forward to another great season with the renewal of Jennings contract.

Nick Collins Reports to Mini-camp

By Green Bay Packer buddy Phil (06/22/2009 01:57 PM)

Nick Collins

Although Nick Collins is signed for the upcoming season, he would like a better contract from the Green Bay Packers.  He did show up for the mandatory mini-camp though.  All is not lost.  Collins had seven interceptions in 2008.  He played in all sixteen games last year and amassed 60 solo tackles, and 12 assissts.  He scored three td's, and was a crucial part of the Packers defense.

Aaron Kampman is Mum

By Green Bay Packers fan Paul (06/04/2009 01:06 PM)

The 3-4 defence is new to many of the Packers starters.  Some have taken the change in stride, others less so.  Aaron Kampman has been very quiet about the change.  He stands to make an even bigger impact as he moves to outside linebacker, but he's not talking about it much.

Adjusting to the 3-4 could mean a small change for Kampman.

Packers Games I Would Like to See

By Jessica the New Green Bay Packer Fan (05/28/2009 03:02 PM)

Green Bay Packers schedule

This entry Was written by a non-football person:
This year, I would love to go to a few Green Bay Packers games and learn a little more about football. Though I don't know much about game, I do know that the Packers are a great team with a large and devoted following and I would love to get to know what it's all about.  Since I have only had Camp Randall tickets, here are a few Packers games that I would like to see.

The game on September 13th would be a great to attend for many reasons. It would be the first game of the season at the home stadium, Lambeau Field that would be a treat, as I have never been there. Because it would be so early in the season, the weather would be nice and warm for tail gaiting. Another reason this would be a great game, is the team we are playing - the Chicago Bears, who are one of our major rivals. The energy of the crowd and the warm weather would make this a great first time to visit Lambeau Field.

For my next selection, I would pick the game on October 5th, again at Lambeau Field against the Minnesota Vikings. This is another rival team of the Packers, which would make for great crowd energy and a fun time. The tough rivalry between the teams and the powerhouse playing level of the Vikings will make this an interesting game to watch. With the current reports of Favre possibly playing for the Vikings, this could also be a chance to see him play against his former team, which would put an interesting twist on the event. The weather is not too cold yet.  That would allow for some fun tail gaiting without having to bundle up in snow pants and parkas.

The last game I would like to go and see this year would be the week nine game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This game would be at the Bucs home stadium, The Raymond James Stadium. After seeing a couple games at Lambeau and having a better feel for football, it would be fun to visit a warmer stadium and see the Packers. Why not visit a new place and see the Packers on the same trip.

Favre Could Still Play Against The Packers

By Green Bay Packers Fan Paul (05/21/2009 01:58 PM)

The Green Bay Packer defenders could still be lining up against Brett Favre this fall.  According to credible sources, Favre is hoping to play for the Vikings.  If the muscle tears on its own, he wants to play.  If the arm requires a doctors care, he will stay retired.

The Vikings think that they are one player away from making the Super Bowl.  Will that player be Favre?  We will know in short order.

Green Bay Packer Draft Focus is on Defense

By Packers fan Phil (05/12/2009 08:17 AM)

B.J. Raji Green Bay Packer

Green bay scouts feel that Raji has the speed to get around players, and can move the line if needed.  He is considered to be the quintessential nose tackle.  He will have to learn the 3-4 defense, but Green Bay Packers coaches feel that he will fit in with no problem.

Clay Matthews was picked second by the Packers.  He played his college ball at USC.  Clay Matthews comes from a pro football family.  His father, also named Clay, played in the NFL for 19 years.  His uncle also played in the NFL for 18 years.  Thompson feels that Matthews has multiple skills.  Clay Matthews made second team all-Pac 10, shared the USC player of the year award on special teams.

The third pick, T.J. Lang has the basic skills to be a solid lineman.  Scouts fin Lang to be a tough-minded player who doesn't slack off on any plays.  He has the ability to move from right tackle to guard with no problem.

In the fifth round, The Green Bay Packers picked Quinn Johnson.  Johnson played fullback at LSU, and loves to hit opposing players.  He's all about the power.  Green Bay is one of the few NFL teams to utilize the fullback position.  Quinn Johnson will certainly get a shot to prove his worth in the coming year.

Packers fans, along with the media give high marks to Ted Thompson for his draft selections.

Packers Draft Pick Looming Large for 2009

By Green Bay Packers buddy Paul (04/23/2009 02:16 PM)

The Green Bay Packers will have the ninth overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft. There are hundreds of websites devoted to the draft.  In fact, the NFL cable channels have been running draft shows for weeks.  There are also hundreds of mock draft websites on the web, all making their predictions, and contributing to the ocean of data at the fingertips of any pro football fan.

Packers fans just want Ted Thompson to make the right choice.  We won't know if he did that until game one of the regular season.  For now, all we can do is speculate. I do take the opinions of local Green Bay Packer sportscasters a bit more seriously than others.  What do these Wisconsin based talking heads have to say about the draft? The majority would like to see B.J. Raji in a Packers uniform.

B.J. Raji has pass rushing speed.  He would also help to build the 3-4 defense that is new to Green Bay.  Some sports nuts like Aaron Maybin, the defensive end.  Others like Everette Brown of Florida State, but the majority pick Raji as the man who will make an immediate impact.

Let's not ignore the fact that the Green Bay Packers have put their money on Aaron Rodgers, and that means he needs major protection.  Chad Clifton is slowing down, and Mark Tauscher is working through a major injury.  Could Mr. Thompson keep his cool and draft someone like Andre Giant, just to help keep Rodgers safe?  We will know the answers to all these questions in just a couple of days.  Who knows, Thompson may still trade up or down before the draft begins.

My pick would be B.J. Raji.  I choose Raji because we need someone to shut down those final desperate drives that opposing teams had no trouble converting into points last season.  There were too many games where the Packers were ahead by three or four points, only to give up the game in the last two minutes.  Someone like Raji could stop that drive in its tracks.

Green Bay Packer Acquire Duke Preston

By Green Bay Packers fan Phil (04/01/2009 03:57 PM)

The Green Bay Packers picked up another free agent for 2009.  Coming from the Buffalo Bills, Duke Preston will line up at one of three spots on the offensive line.  That's what Green Bay liked in Preston, his versatility.  This move frees up Josh Stitton.  Stitton will be free to work his right tackle spot.  This is not a concern for Mark Tausher.

Anthony Smith was the only other unrestricted free agent to ink a deal with Green Bay.  Smith is four years into his pro career.  He played college ball at Syracuse.

Packers Start to Fill Key Staff Positions

By The Green Bay Ghost (02/04/2009 04:30 PM)

The Green Bay Packers ended the season defeating the lowly Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.  It is time to look forward to 2009.  Not much can be said about the dismal 6-10 record that Green Bay ended up with.  The injuries, the weak defense, and the lack of a running game all played a part in the fall from grace.

Looking forward, the Packers cleaned house and their defensive staff is gone.  Staff additions include Mike Trgovac as defensive line coach, Kevin Greene as outside linebacker coach, Darren Perry as safeties coach, Joe Whitt Junior as the corner backs mentor, and the list goes on.  These men will all report to the new defensive coordinator Dom Capers.

Another weakness that needs to be addressed is the special teams play.  Green Bay ranked dead last in kick return average yards.  Over one dozen penalties wiped out 212 yards on special teams alone.

Another move worth noting is that of Aaron Kampman.  He will be on the outside line for base defensive schemes starting in 2009.  Although he was resistant to this move in the past, desperate times call for desperate measures.  Who can say if this will work or not?  Time will tell.  For now, the changes on the defensive side are going to require faith in the new system.  After a few wins, the doubters may become believers.

Packers Fever Heating Up

By Ms. Pacman (10/28/2008 03:37 PM)

Al Harris

The Green Bay Packers win against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field! This was an unexpected win, I think. This will be the game we look back on in January, when the Pack prepares for the post-season, that turned the tide for the season and for the fans. Packers' fans have been cautiously optimistic since September. While Rodgers has been performing well at Quarterback, the three losses are hard to overlook. The win against Peyton Manning's Colts helps.

We are half way through the bye week. The team is off with their families chillin', preparing mentally for a serious test against the first place Tennessee Titans in Nashville.  The Titans are due for a loss and the Packers have momentum on their side. The Titans will be coming off a short week, presumably playing a tough game against the Indianapolis Colts, who will be playing extra tough given the loss against the Packers a week earlier and the Packers come in to Nashville rested from the bye week. I will take the Packers to win this one.

Further adding to the Packers' momentum is the news of cornerback Al Harris' return. Harris suffered from a bad spleen tear in a September game against the Dallas Cowboys and has been asked to lay low since. Initially, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Harris may be out for the entire 2008 season. It is great for the team he is coming back, but Harris' absence did give us a chance to take a closer look at Tramon Williams, who stepped in nicely.

The Packers report to the practice field on Monday the 27th. McCarthy expects all players to come in healthy and well-rested. There are nine remaining regular season game; 5 away and 4 at Lambeau, with 4 against division-rivals. The Packers have won 9 of their last 12 post-bye-week games. Let's keep this record moving in the right direction.

This waiting is Killing me!

By Ms Pacman (08/04/2008 08:54 PM)

From the Green Bay Packers website, the following was posted this evening:

"Packers public relations director Jeff Blumb announced that Head Coach Mike McCarthy's press conference to discuss the quarterback situation scheduled for Monday night has been postponed until Tuesday.

McCarthy and quarterback Brett Favre began their scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, and as of 8:40 p.m. that meeting was still continuing. McCarthy had been scheduled to address the media following his meeting with Favre.

McCarthy will address the media on Tuesday, most likely before the team takes the field for a 2:00 p.m. practice."

I know it appears as though I have been missing in action, I have been knee deep in Packers news. All this drama. All this back and forth. All this to come to a head tonight! But noooooooooo. Mike and Brett are still chit chatting behind closed doors. I can't take it anymore. There are only so many Packers-Spirit-Days I can pull off.

I say Favre and Rodgers take every other snap. Done.

Aaron Rodgers on ESPN Sunday Conversations

By Ms. Pacman (06/09/2008 09:01 PM)

Aaron Rodgers Cal

Here it is, a quick look at the next quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers. Last night on ESPN Sunday Conversation with Aaron Rodgers, gave us Packers fans what we need, a little time to get to a feel for the guy. Interesting that the interview opens with Rodgers saying Favre didn't call him post-retirement announcement. Kind of a bummer. It would be nice to have the fairytale-type scenario of Favre passing the torch to his student. It feels a little cool on Favre's part, but maybe that is a good thing for us to work from. Gives us another reason to pull for the new guy.

When drafted in 2005, Rodgers' report looked promising for great success in the NFL. Let's hope those football fancy pants knew what they were talking about and that Rodgers' took adequate notes from ol' #4 and we are in for a rock-solid season of football. Keep the interviews coming, as I need something to wrap my arms around on this guy. He sure does have big shoes to fill with not just the skill level at Lambeau and away, but the charm, charisma, passion, energy and excitement Favre brought each and every week.

Green and Gold-Light Specials at Lambeau Field This Weekend

By Ms Pacman (06/07/2008 01:00 PM)

This weekend marks the 15th year the Packers have held their version of a rummage sale. Unloading Packers gear at rock bottom prices. Technically called the Packers Pro Shop Tent Sale, fans can load up on Packers t-shirts and other items if successful at beating others to the punch. Some buyers who have already come and gone this year noticed the pickings were slimmer than in years' past. They chalked it up to the Green Bay Packers going all the way to the NFC Championship game in the 2007 season. Going that far in the season simply means more gear gets sold and less makes it's way to the Tent Sale. I think that is a fair trade.

Along with Pro Shop items, the team donates extra items they no longer need, never does this include extra Packers tickets, unfortunately. Each season the NFL creates new "looks" to the caps, jackets and warm ups warn by all the teams creating want and desire with football fans. Always needing the next cool thing. And to think, I still don't have the "red" American Heart Association Packers hat!

Happy shopping Packers fans!

Packers Noah Herron Puts the Real Smack Down

By Ms Pacman (06/06/2008 10:00 PM)

Apparently there had been a string of burglaries in Green Bay, WI which the police were having little luck nabbing the perps, but leave it to a Green Bay Packer to save the day! Packers running back Noah Herron, #23, heard something going on in his house which shouldn't have been, screwed off a bed post and hauled ass down the stairs only to find two dudes looking to steal Herron's stuff. Luckily for Herron, these scumbags weren't packing heat, or the bedpost would have done Herron little good. Like in the movies, the good guy wins in this match. With a running back bod at 5'11'', 218 pounds, I would think these losers were catching some muscle.  One of the robbers was injured so badly he was hospitalized and the other guy was caught by the police, as Herron had called 911 when he heard the break in.

Nice, quick thinking, but again, this could have easily had a different ending. Karma.

Hopefully, this will be all the drama Noah Herron has to endure up until his September 8th start of the 2008 NFL season against the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

Rodgers Ready to Lead Packers

By Ms. Pacman (05/23/2008 01:42 PM)

Aaron Rodgers and PackersAaron Rodgers and Packers

Aaron Rodgers and Packers

Starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers recently said he is more concerned about football than who on the team likes or doesn't like him. Rodgers recognizes the pressure he is under and that there are a number of people he thinks are looking for him to fail.  I am not one of those people.  As deep as my dedication, admiration and love to and for former quarterback Brett Favre is, it does not come at the expense of rooting for Rodgers. "I like a lot of things about him. I like the combination of his mental and physical makeup," Packers Head Coach McCarthy has said. "Replacing Brett Favre wouldn't be easy for anybody, regardless of their size, speed, mental capacity."

This week marked the first time the entire Packers team took the practice field with Rodgers leading the team.  Since 1992 this leadership role was played by Favre.  With other team leaders behind him, it will just take time for Rodgers to get that first game behind him.  Wide Receiver Donald Driver has said he has always had confidence in Rodgers and that now is the time for Rodgers to find it within himself. From what I have read on Rodgers' makeup, this shouldn't be a problem for him.

Packers Family Night Set

By Ms. Pacman (05/21/2008 08:27 PM)

The big game, scrimmage between the Packers offense and defense, attended by twns of thousands of Packers fans at Lambeau Field is scheduled for Sunday night, August 3rd this year. Packers tickets for this Family Night event always sell out, and at $8.00 a piece, they are the cheapest Packers tickets anyone is going to get their hands on.

As I mentioned, it is a well-attended family event. This will be the 8th year for Packers Family Night. Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 14th at 10am, but if you have a large group together, the Packers ticket office is accepting large group request prior to the 14th.  Festivities will begin at roughly 5:30 that evening, with the NFL's most popular scrimmage beginning at 7:30 and fireworks capping off the evening.  Before the fireworks, 20 lucky Packers fans will win one of the "Shirts off our Backs" jerseys worn by the players in the just-watched scrimmage.  1 out of 60,000 is tough, but you can't win if you never get the ticket. You can feel good all around about attending, the $5 you will pay to park in the Lambeau Field lot goes directly to charity.

Let's Get Ready for Some Football

By Ms. Pacman (05/15/2008 03:56 PM)

Favre and Rodgers

Where has all of the time gone, the Packers schedule came out a month ago and I have failed to detail the interesting notion that the NFL has marked the Packers opener against the Minnesota Vikings as THE game to mark the opening of the 2008 NFL season.  It should be noted that the NFL scheduled it this way prior to the Packers announcing they would retire Brett Favre's #4 jersey at the game. Certainly, if anyone had insider information, it would be the NFL.  So it goes, September 8, 2008 is a great day to look forward to, even if it won't include Brett Favre behind the Center.

Unless something changes, Aaron Rodgers will make his regular season debut starting for the Packers with a big time national audience on Monday Night Football on ESPN. Talk about adding stress to stress to expectations to filling shoes and all the other clichés appropriate to the position Rodgers is going to be in. Let us remember this will be the first game since 1992 when someone other than Brett Favre will be the starting quarterback for our Green Bay Packers! 1992! There are very few things that were cool in 1992 which are still cool today; Brett Favre is one on a short list.

It is well known that the Green Bay Packers season tickets are totally sold out to season ticket holders and the wait list sits at about 57,000 names according to Packers.com with the estimated wait being roughly 30 years.  One can always buy Packers tickets through reputable ticket brokers, but the price can vary from $100 to amounts unheard of; having a game like this kick off the new era in Green Bay should keep Packers tickets the hot commodity they have been for years. Add to this, if Rodgers and the team can get off to a good start, we might see Packers ticket prices mirror last season. Just a guess. Go You Packers!

Brett Favre Not Hibernating

By Ms. Pacman (05/14/2008 04:54 PM)

Favre on Letterman

Brett Favre is scheduled to appear at the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Banquet on July 19, 2008 to support his old pal Frank Winters. Bart Starr and Santana Dotson are scheduled to be there as well. That might be worth a little drive to Lambeau Field! With this and with rumors swirling about Favre going to add commentary to Fox Sports Sunday mornings, looks like all those folks who said Favre would hibernate and mow his lawn for months on end, might be proven wrong. Thankfully. Though Favre's agent has said there is no truth to the Fox rumor.

Packers tickets for the Hall of Fame banquet have been sold out for awhile, so it would be a game of who-ya-know.

Packers Ticket Scam

By Ms. Pacman (05/09/2008 04:15 PM)

Here is a sad story with a relatively happy ending. Local Wisconsin guy sets up a little website called Lambeau-Tickets.com and starts reselling Green Bay Packers tickets. Trouble is, he was taking people's money and not delivering on his promise of Packers tickets. Some nice Packers fans spent all sorts of money and had no Packers Lions tickets to show for it. In the end, a local Wisconsin Ticket broker hooked up the people who had been taken with some discounted seats to the game at Lambeau Field.  The fans got their money back and this sweetheart of a guy has agreed to state sanctions.

The important lesson to learn here is the importance of doing your due diligence when it comes to buying a hot commodity like Packers tickets. Buy tickets from a reputable source. A member of the NATB would be a good start. If you order tickets online, I would be certain that at some point in time, not long after you place your order, you speak with a real person, just to confirm all is good to go with your order.

Packers tickets are unique in that people buy and sell them long before the tickets are printed, and that is all good, but if someone promises you in May that they can deliver hard tickets for a Packers game; a red flag should go up. No one has hard tickets until usually late July or early August of the upcoming NFL season.

There you have it. Go Packers!

Culpepper Packers Back-up QB?

By Ms. Pacman (04/24/2008 02:34 PM)

Daunte_Culpepper

The Green Bay Packers are apparently courting longtime Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Daunte Culpepper to play back-up to newly crowned head of the Packers offense, Aaron Rodgers. Culpepper landed in Green Bay two days ago and met with the Packers on Wednesday. Packers General Manager Ted Thompson said, "We had him in for a visit, and it was a good visit. We wanted to kind of introduce ourselves to him and he to us, so it went fine."

Culpepper played the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins and the Oakland Raiders, so a season in cold weather Packerland could be a shocker.  As of yesterday, the Packers have three quarterbacks on the roster: Aaron Rodgers, Jerry Babb and Dalton Bell. The latter two are young players looking to gain some experience.  Craig Nall, who signed with the Packers (again) in December 2007 is currently a free-agent.

Moving on to more pressing Packers news, I would be remiss if I failed to mention Brett Favre being scheduled to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman this evening. Letterman tapes two shows on Thursdays, so technically if Favre comes in with some crazy announcement about coming back to play in the NFL, for the Packers or for another team, my watch tells me word could leak out by 5p cst. Seriously, can you imagine? I think it's wonderful we fans get a chance to hear from Favre post-retirement-press conference, especially with my favorite David Letterman.

Green Bay Packers schedule announced for 2008

By "Five Step Drop" Paul (04/16/2008 01:07 PM)

Aaron Rodgers

The 2008 Green Bay Packers schedule is out.  To me, it looks like some of the tougher games are early in the season.  For starters, The Packers play the Vikings on Monday night, September 8th.  Another interesting wrinkle to this Monday Night brawl is that the NFL will be broadcasting two games that night.  The pressure will be on a national level for Aaron Rodgers.  Aaron did play on Monday Night, replacing an injured Favre during the meeting against the Cowboys in 2007.  He seemed to be in charge from the moment he stepped on to the field.

Packers fans will certainly get a feel for the Aaron Rodgers era during the pre-season, but the real test will start against a team that was shut out at Lambeau Field on November 11th.  The Green Bay Packers have a great core of wide receivers and one anxious young quarterback.  Will the worldwide Packers fans accept Aaron Rodgers as the commander-in-chief?  A win against the Vikings that includes a couple of touchdowns would certainly start the romance off on good footing.  As of this writing, the back up quarterback has not been determined.  A solid, aged veteran is the best idea.  Should Aaron Rodgers go down (knock wood), the Packers need someone that can drop in to the program with ease.

Other notable games would include the September 21st game vs. the Cowboys, October 19th vs. The Colts, and on the road vs. Seattle on October 12th.  The Packers will be on Monday Night Football three times, and Sunday Night Football twice.  That means the long distance fans will see almost one third of the Packers season as long as they have basic cable.  Lastly, the silly rumors of Favre returning to other teams, or even coming back to the Packers have come and gone.  It's Aaron's time now.

It is Aaron Rodgers Time.

By Joe Dorau (04/15/2008 01:12 PM)

It is time for Aaron Rodgers to replace one of the greatest players in professional sports history EVER. After three seasons of watching and learning, Rodgers is driving the mean green packer machine. I say it is about time. Look at the cap room the Packers save (30 million)  and plus now they have an agile and mobile quarterback. I say it brings more 3-d dimension to the game. Brett was great, but he was getting old. Defense could predict his moves or lack of. Aaron Rodgers will bring youth and mobility to the team. Of course Aaron has huge shoes to fill, but let us give him a chance he deserves. Brett is the past. Let's not live in the past anymore. The time for mourning is over, lets look ahead. Go Pack Go.

Wisconsin was Lucky to Have Favre all these Years

By Ms. Pacman (03/05/2008 05:01 PM)

Brett Favre

In watching the footage of Brett Favre play for the Green Bay Packers and reading ALL of the articles dedicated to remembering favorite Favre moments, I really am taken aback at just how lucky I was to lived this era of the Packers and Favre. Never will there be a player to stay healthy as long as Favre and play well for Pete's Sake. There were times when the rest of Favre's team was better than others.  This last season he had one of the better teams to play with. Both sides of the ball had great talent which was obvious given the Pack went on to host the NFC Championship Game at Lambeau Field!

Brett Favre is set to hold a press conference tomorrow Mach 6th at 11a CST. I haven't heard if Brett will be coming in to Green Bay for it or not.  Given his history, I would guess he would be most happy staying home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi behind his fences.

I will be watching tomorrow hoping for a change of heart from Favre, though still prepared for the words retirement to come from his lips. His nice, soft lips. Ok, just kidding.  He is just so great on the field and off that it will be hard to say goodbye.

Favre Retires Confirmed by Packers

By A Very Sad Ms. Pacman (03/04/2008 01:47 PM)

brett favre

I wasn't going to believe the news of Brett Favre's retirement until I heard it from his lips, but after reading Green Bay Packers General Manager, Ted Thompson, posted on Packers.com moments ago, I am officially sad. Brett Favre Retires.

It looks like Favre is walking away from the game on his own terms, as those professional writers like to write. Favre said he feels like he can physically still play, but is emotionally tired. Well, who isn't!

Thank you Brett for so many great years filled with highs and lows. The Super Bowl, the records, the interceptions, the antics, your smile, your ratty t-shirts at Packers press, your carrying other players on your shoulders after a touchdown and so many other Favre-isms which brought so many great joy.

I will welcome Aaron Rodgers to the Lambeau Field come the upcoming NFL season (Assuming Rodgers is going to be the guy), but it will take some getting used to. Rodgers has looked ok when given a shot. I cannot imagine the pressure Rodgers feels. The stress and anticipation would be overwhelming. While no Quarterback is going to fill Favre's shoes the first season in, Green Bay Packers fans just need to know we aren't headed for a 4-12 season. We were so close this past season, we could taste the Super Bowl. It tasted good. To have a losing season to follow would be almost too much to take.

I will miss you Brett!!

The Packers Pain has Finally Subsided

By Ms. Pacman (02/25/2008 05:43 PM)

Maybe the ONLY good thing about the weather in the midwest, specifically Wisconsin, is that the pain of this miserable weather replaced the pain of the Green Bay Packers season. I seriously was DOWN in the dumps after the Packers lost to the Giants that cold, cold, Sunday in January. It has now been a few weeks and we still haven't heard anything from our, my, quarterback Brett Favre as to what his plans are for the upcoming NFL season. I would suspect he will be back. The Packers were WAY too close to the Superbowl for him not to return as leader of the Pack.

With any luck I will have the Milwaukee Brewers to keep me happy, placated,  for the summer. JJ Hardy does give Brett Favre a run for his money.  Sorry Brett. You still are my #1.

Not This Season for the Green Bay Packers

By Amy Rottler (01/23/2008 11:56 AM)

 Green Bay Packer Helmet

The Green Bay Packers unfortunate loss to the New York Giants on Sunday means no Super Bowl this year, but hey, there is always next year.  Especially since Brett Favre will likely delay his retirement.  Good choice on his part particularly since his last throw of this season was an interception.

This game was a close one, in the last seconds of the fourth quarter the Giants were set up to win the tied game (20-20), but kicker Lawrence Tynes missed the 43-yard field goal.  Going into overtime the Packers got another stroke of luck as they got possession of the ball.  But as quickly as their luck came it went when Favre threw the interception that gave the Giants possession again.

While the luck for the Packers seemed to run out, Giants kicker Tynes got a chance to change his bad luck and redeem himself for the field goal that forced the teams into overtime and almost cost the Giants the win.  Tynes' luck definitely did change, as he kicked the winning field goal giving the Giants an in for the Super Bowl leaving the score at 23-20.

While the Packers didn't make it to the Super Bowl, they still played a great season.  And with Favre hopefully announcing his return for another season, hopefully the Packers return next season with the same ability to win and another chance at the NFC Championship game.

Sick from Packers Fever

By Ms. Pacman (01/12/2008 01:51 PM)

I am beside myself. Kickoff at Lambeau is less than two hours away when my Green Bay Packers will be givin' it to the Seattle Seahawks.  I was wondering why my tummy was all butterflies, then it dawned on me that it is anticipation for the stinkin' game to start and finish with a Packers win! Then we can move on to tomorrow afternoon's butterflies for the Cowboys Giants game in Dallas. With a Cowboys loss, we all know the scenario; my Packers will host the 2008 NFC Championship game at home at historic Lambeau Field. Green Bay Packers tickets for the Championship game are already available should we be so lucky. Prices aren't cheap, but this is an event that doesn't come around very often.  I won't get ahead of myself.

GO PACKERS!

A Cold Day in Chicago

By Amy Rottler (12/28/2007 09:27 AM)

PACKERS NFC

Having been at this weekends' Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers game, I saw first hand the sad display put on by the Packers in what was a very important game.  This game was so significant because although the Packers have ensured their spot in the playoffs, home field advantage, as well as, a possibility for the NFC number one spot was on the line.

Watching the Bears fan sitting in front of me have his beer freeze before the end of the first quarter and the Packer fan behind me have his nacho cheese turn to ice was a clear indication of the terrible weather.  However, watching Jon Ryan kick two blocked punts, a 9-yard punt and have a fumbled snap, one could only hope it was the weather that was at fault.

Ryan was not the only one playing like it was his first time on the field, the beloved Brett Favre was having one of the worst games of his career.  "I've been playing 17 years, and that was the worst condition I've ever played in," Favre said.  He was not using weather as an excuse for his two interceptions, fumbled snaps and the 17 out of 32 completed passes he threw though.

Even though the Bears clearly crushed the Packers, they had their own troubles during the game, including a missed touchdown pass and an almost interception.  Even though the two teams did not play well, the Bears played better, or as I would rather say, the Packers just simply played worse.

The game ended with a Packers loss of 7-35 and lost the home field advantage opportunity over the Dallas Cowboys should they reach the NFC Championship game.  The major lesson I took away from this game was wear five layers and up or get club seats, because they don't call Chicago the windy city for nothing.

Records are Made to be Broken

By Amy Rottler (12/17/2007 04:33 PM)

Brett Farve has certainly earned his title of "Sportsman of the Year" this season.  Having broken yet another record and crushing the St. Louis Rams 33 - 14 on Sunday, Farve and the Green Bay Packers are making history.  This weeks victory for Farve allows him to hold the NFL career high in yards passing, which surpasses the former record holder, Dan Marino.  Now with 61,405 yards passing under his belt (with more to come), Farve stamped out the old Marino record of 61,361 yards.

This season alone, Farve has set numerous other record highs including another Marino record of number of touchdown passes thrown.  Marino held the top spot with 420 career touchdown passes, which Farve took over on Sept. 30 against the Minnesota Vikings.  And on Sept. 16, Farve also took John Elway's number one spot of career record victories with his 149th against the New York Giants.  And a happy Thanksgiving for Packers fans, Farve set the Packer record for consecutive completions against the Detroit Lions on Nov. 22.

But with the good comes the bad and during week 6, Farve also set another record of career interceptions.  Although the Packers won against the Washington Redskins, Brett hit an NFL high of 278 interceptions thrown on Oct. 14.

Hopefully for the Packers, the records keep breaking and the wins keep coming.  With talk of the NFC Divisional Playoffs and the Super Bowl in the future, all these records are just icing on the cake for the celebrated Brett Farve.

I can't leave you hanging on THE PICTURE!!!

By Ms. Pacman (12/05/2007 04:56 PM)

It took a bit to get a nice copy of the perfect snapshot the fellas over at Sports Illustrated took of my cover boy, Brett Favre.

Brett Favre named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year

By Ms. Pacman (12/04/2007 06:17 PM)

WOW! That's our fella! Congratulations to Brett for being named SI's 2007 Sportsman of the Year!

The cover picture is absolute perfection! Brett Favre in his green and gold Green Bay Packers uniform we have come to look so very forward to every Sunday; or Thursday as was the case the last two Packers games.

Check out the entire Sports Illustrated article for some great Favre stories, including a sweet picture of a young, young Favre, who dare I say, clearly lacked the Clooney-esque quality which was headed his way.

 GO PACKERS!!!

OK, So the Smackdown didn't Happen

By Ms. Pacman (12/03/2007 04:56 PM)

I shouldn't go that far I suppose. The Green Bay Packers were short a handful of key players in the game they played in Dallas against the Cowboys. I would never have anticipated the key players would include #4 Brett Favre! It literally has taken me days to get over. The poor thing. Sitting there on the sidelines watching his good friend and protege (?) Aaron Rodgers play his best to try to keep the Packers in the game. The gamed named NFC Championship 1/2.  Favre aggrevated his left shoulder and right arm when Dallas defender Nate Jones introduced Favre, rather intimately, to the field turf of Texas Stadium.

Favre immediately told the press he would be ready to play in the next game, the Packers Raiders game at Lambeau Field Sunday, December 9th.  I don't think he is playing just to keep his record streak alive. Favre wants to play to win. He isn't suiting up every week, in those awfully cute uniforms, just for personal records. He wants to take this 10-2 Packers team all the way to Arizona.  This is his shot at so much. A shot at another Super Bowl ring. A shot at another NFL League MVP.

Packers ready to put the Smack Down on the Cowboys

By Ms. Pacman (11/29/2007 03:54 PM)

The Green Bay Packers may be a little banged up, but a game of this magnitude can put a little extra spring in a guys' step. That, and some strong drugs those fancy NFL docs have access to.  Brett Favre and the Pack are sitting in 62 degree weather in Dallas, TX as I sit wearing my winter coat at my desk. What I would give to be at the Packers Cowboys game tonight! Thankfully I am able to watch the game on my local ABC affiliate, but boy do I feel for folks without the NFL Network who don't live in Green Bay, Milwaukee or Dallas. Obviously there will be a number of watering holes for football fans to visit to watch the action, but most frown upon toddlers and sleeping children taking up space. And that whole underage drinking thing.

It looks like the Dallas Cowboys are favored by a touchdown tonight and most football pundits seem to think the Cowboys will indeed win this game.  I couldn't disagree more. GO PACKERS!

Packers Punish the Panthers

By Ms. Pacman (11/19/2007 05:15 PM)

 FAVRE TESTAVERDE

The Green Bay Packers were a force to reckon with at Lambeau Field yesterday. Sure they let a little slip in the second half, not to say the Carolina Panthers weren't a solid opponent.  Brett Favre and the offense had a ok start, but the Packers defense continues to display greatness.  As of yesterday the defense was ranked second in the NFL on third down plays.  They picked Testaverde off for three interceptions.  The Green Bay Packers went on to win Sunday's game 31-17.

It was widely reported that this was a rare game which set 38 year old Brett Favre against an OLDER counterpart on the opposing team; Panthers' Quarterback Vinnie Testaverde turned 44 this past Tuesday.  Looks like beauty triumphs over age at Lambeau Field.

With a short turnaround, the Packers will have a quiet day today, so said Greg Jennings on the local radio.  Then be ready for a Turkey Day game against the Detroit Lions.  Kickoff for the Packers Lions game 11/22 is 11:30 CST.

Little Departure and the Packers sit at 7-1....Not Bad!

By Ms. Pacman (11/09/2007 03:18 PM)

Little hiatus to an ashram in India and this Green Bay Packers fan is back and ready to take this NFL Season deep in to 2008!  Brett Favre has lead this relatively young team to a 7-1 start.  They lost a heart breaker to the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field a few weeks back on October 7th, but then haven't looked back since, with Brett throwing the long ball in the last few wins.

Against the Denver Broncos, Favre threw a touchdown pass to Greg Jennings to open and close overtime in Denver.  As I jumped up and down in my living room, I worried very little about what the neighbors were saying. My Brett Favre had finally won a game at Mile High!  Then what did he do? Favre and the Packers went to win against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road, nonetheless, for the first time.  This added to the great karma of this team.  Favre won at least one game against all the other NFL teams over the course of his career.  Seriously, destiny would have Brett winning another MVP award AND giving it to the Patriots in the Super Bowl game in 2008.

New York Giants no problem for the Green Bay Packers

By Ms. Pacman (09/17/2007 09:13 AM)

What a nice way to start the season? 2-0. Much better than last year's 0-4 start to the season.  This is 2-0 against two teams, pundits weren't sure the Packers would win against.  If the Green Bay Packers could play the rest of the season how they played the second half of yesterday's Giants meeting, we would be in pretty good shape.  Favre's offense was fun to watch. Sure he had a few of those goofy shovel passes which could have turned out poorly. (Like the floater that became a turnover in the first half)  The running game looked good thanks to the

GForce???

By Ms. Pacman (09/13/2007 01:41 PM)

According to Packers.com, "G-Force is an extension of the Green Bay Packers that's 72,928 players strong every game at Lambeau. It's that extra boost of energy from the fans - the players in the stands - that makes a difference in the outcome of the game." If only this would have been true the entire Packers Eagles game, the final score may not have been so close.  From my seats, we had to drag people up out of their super comfy bench seat to scream and yell when the Eagles offense was on third down.  One guy actually said, "Hey, I have had these seats at Lambeau for 27 years, you think I am going get up now?"  Well, yes, I do.  So GForce members, let's get with the program. Noise makes a difference.  Why else would the players look up to the stands for a little extra help?

The Green Bay Packers ask fans to "bring their outside voices" on their next trip to Lambeau Field. Got it, teacher!

Week 2

By Packer Tickets (09/12/2007 01:40 PM)

The Packers are away this week to take on the New York Giants this weekend. The Green Bay Packers are coming off an impressive win against the Eagles, a defensive game in which Packers defense looked great. The Packers didn't have much to offer on offense, but they got enough big plays from their special teams and their defense to get the win. The offense should be better this game, as they are getting more comfortable with each other while at the same time integrating some new plays.

The Giants lost their two best players last weekend against the Dallas Cowboys,  QB Eli Manning, and RB Brandon Jacobs... both will be out at least 3 weeks now. The Packers defense should dominate this game. GO PACK GO!

Brett Favre Expected to break NFL Records

By Ms. Pacman (09/06/2007 09:37 AM)

In February 2007 when Brett Favre, my favorite #4, announced he was in it to win it one more year with the Green Bay Packers, fans immediately had high hopes.  With one more win, Favre will tie John Elway's record (148 wins) for most wins in the NFL.  Brett Favre should get the seven touchdowns needed to pass Dan Marino held record of 420 passes within a few games.

On Sunday, September 9th, as Favre hits Lambeau Field to play the Philadelphia Eagles, he will be making his 238th consecutive start!  (His first game with the Packers came on September 13, 1992) He is the only three-time MVP in NFL league history.  Favre is the NFL's all-time leader in completions at 5,021 and ranks second behind Dan Marino in passing yards with 57,500.

A win this weekend would not only help with the record, but would put the end to a four game losing streak against the Eagles.  I know I already have my Green Bay Packers tickets for the game! Brats & Beer already set for a solid tailgate outside Lambeau Field!

Game Day in Green Bay

By Ms. Pacman (09/05/2007 10:31 PM)

As I have been lucky enough to spend many a Sunday with a Bloody Mary in one hand and Green Bay Packers Tickets in the other, many folks ask my opinion on what their trip to Lambeau should include.

I just mention a few sure bets: the Green Bay Packers Pro Shop, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, some nice 50 yard line Packers tickets at Lambeau Field (or end zone tickets will do), a solid showing of your green and gold gear, which you can conveniently pick up at the aforementioned shop and of course, some good pals to hang out with.  The traffic leaving Lambeau Field heading to the south is never very fun, but I certainly do not recommend leaving the game early. That is really talking crazy!  The Lambeau Field parking lot is all sold out like the Packers tickets to Packers season ticket holders, so it really is easiest and cheapest to find parking around the stadium.  The further you are willing to walk, the cheaper it is.  Brett Favre's Steakhouse is one of a bunch of bars/restaurants which host tailgate parties before the Packers games. They are worth strolling over to; the people watching is good and isn't it time for a refill on that Bloody Mary?

A Start to a great season??

By Packer kid (09/01/2007 09:46 AM)

Last Saturday  night preseason game against Seattle Seahawks was more along the lines of what Brett Favre was hoping for when he decided to return for his 17th and maybe his last season in the NFL. The future Hall of Famer completed 7 of 12 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown while his Green Bay Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks 48-13 on Saturday night. Favre lead the Packers to 17 points in his first four drives as Green Bay built a 38-10 lead by halftime. Backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers backed up Favre for the second half of the game and completed 10-17 for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns but was guilty of a pair of fumbles as well.  For Seattle, it was an accomplishment if they could hold on to the ball long enough to get to a punting down. The Seahawks committed six turnovers in the game, two of which were returned for long touchdowns. Green Bay was just barely better than Seattle in that resepect as the Packers coughed the ball up five times in their win.

Green Bay Packers fall to Titans in Last Preseason Game

By Ms. Pacman (09/01/2007 09:46 AM)

As I watched the game on Thursday, I couldn't help but get a little anxious for what could be Brett Favre's last season in the NFL. The team (first, second, third-stringers) weren't able to win the game, but hopefully the play allowed for enough ammo for the coaches to make decisions as to who will make the final Green Bay Packers 2007 roster, and who will be cut as of 5p cst today.

Brett Favre's last play of the preseason had him being helped up by a Tennessee Titan player who hit him late.  I held my breathe as Favre took a second longer than usual to jog off to the sidelines. CAN YOU IMAGINE??? FAVRE OUT FOR THE SEASON! That is what my chick logic brain thought. But then, sure enough, our little machine #4, caught his breathe, put his ribs back where they belonged and started looking at those fancy black and white stills of the line and chit-chattin' with the other players.

The Green Bay Packers start the 2007 regular season in just over a week as the Philadelphia Eagles travel to Lambeau Field. Game time is 12noon cst.

Donald Driver gets a contract extension

By Packer kid (08/09/2007 10:20 AM)

The Green Bay Packers' Donald Driver has received a one-year contract extension that makes him a Green Bay Packer through 2010 and adds money to his existing contract. The two-time Pro Bowl wideout will receive raises of $1.6 million this season and $1 million in both 2008 and '09.

Quietly, the 32-year-old Driver has been one of the NFL's most dependable receivers recently, and he's helped keep the aging Brett Favre looking somewhat competent. Driver, who has 421 catches and 36 touchdowns in eight pro seasons, had a career year in '06 with bests in receptions (92), yardage (1,295) and scores (eight).

It would be a good problem for Wisconsin to have...

By Ms. Pacman (07/12/2007 10:12 AM)

As both a Milwaukee Brewers fan AND a Green Bay Packers fan, one has to look at the schedules and see if there is any potential for overlap.  For the first time in MANY years, I see a potential issue.  It might be a long shot, but there is a possibility that a MLB World Series game which could feature MY Milwaukee Brewers could land smack dab during the Green Bay Packers Monday Night game against the Denver Broncos.  Again, this isn't life-shattering, and I repeat, it would be a good problem to have.  The best part about it is that it is the one away game the family is planning to go to! Of course.

Speaking of away games; the Packers have quite a few tough road games they are facing in the upcoming season.  I guess I have to ask if there is such a thing as an easy road game in the NFL? It used to be the case that a team traveling to play the Packers at Lambeau Field were almost certain to lose.  More recently,  this trend unfortunately went the other direction with teams like the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles stomping all over the Packers.  The hopeful green and gold fans don't waver though in their passion. Check out this tribute to the Green Bay Packers posted on You Tube.

NFL Pundit, Schmundit

By ms pacman (07/08/2007 09:47 AM)

The Packer Report recently posted a summary of the pre-season reports (read educated guesses) the best-known football pundits have released regarding the upcoming NFL season. Loos like there isn't a one in the bunch who is picking the Green Bay Packers to go any further than a second place in the division finish with little hope for a playoff game.  While these fallas may have all sorts of facts and figures and experience to work with, they lack the understanding that fate  / karma is working in our favorite QB Brett Favre's favor.  His last season in the NFL takes him all the way to the Super Bowl!

Take a look at USA TODAY; as part of their 25th anniversary they are posting a listing of the best NFL players in the last 25 years. That's right Brett Favre is #14.

Here is the USA TODAY article on their #14, my #4.

"Brett Favre has been the quarterback of the Packers for so long, it's hard to remember anyone else playing the position in Green Bay. That durability - Favre has played in 237 consecutive games - and his winning style that has earned him the 14th spot on USA TODAY's list.

When Favre replaced Don Majkowski on Sept. 20, 1992, he began a new era in Packers football during which he would return the team to NFL relevance and become one of the greatest quarterbacks in the game's history.

Favre enters the 2007 season on the doorstep of some of the NFL's most meaningful records. He sits second in career touchdown passes, passing yards, attempts and wins as a starting QB - all marks he could surpass this season."

Green Bay Packers Roster Update

By Ms. Pacman (06/21/2007 10:04 AM)

Yesterday, Ted Thompson announced that the Green Bay Packers signed the last two players they drafted in the 2007 NFL draft; running back DeShawn Wynn and tight end Clark Harris.  At the same time, the team released center Pete Bier and defensive tackle Devarick Sandrett.

DeShawn Wynn played college ball at Florida and became only the second running back drafted by the Packers since 2002!  Hopefully he will turn out to be a great pick, as Wynn's years at Florida were great, including the 2006 National Championship season.

While playing at Rutgers University, Clark Harris helped bring the team from a 1-11 record in 2002 to an 11-2 record in the 2006 season! The Rutgers team had two straight bowl appearances while Harris was on the team; this from a team who hadn't been in a "real" bowl EVER!

We will all get a chance to see these guys at work, as well as the rest of the Green Bay Packers players at the now sold-out Packers Family Night event scheduled for Lambeau Field on Saturday, August 4, where the Packers' offense take on the Packers' defense.

Green Bay Packers sign rookie Aaron Rouse out of Virginia Tech

By Packer Informer (06/15/2007 12:31 PM)

The Green Bay Packers signed third-round draft pick Aaron Rouse to a likely four-year contract on Saturday, joining his former Virginia Tech teammate WR David Clowney as the second rookie to sign with the Green and Gold.  Rouse has been slated to play safety and will challenge veteran Marquand Manuel for the starting spot on the Green Bay Packers' roster during training camp this August.

Rouse, who stands tall for a safety at six feet, four inches, was notorious for his speed and hitting ability while at Virginia Tech.  He was originally a linebacker but moved to strong safety his junior year, where he excelled.  Rouse has been taking snaps during Packers' mini-camp with the second defense, signaling that the Packers' coaching staff is giving him high regard in challenging for a spot alongside veteran safety Nick Collins.

On Packers.com, Rouse talks about his most memorable game ever, a high school match-up against a cross-town rival.  What made it most memorable?  Rouse's girlfriend was a cheerleader on the opposing team's sideline.

And despite some people who wish to smear Rouse as a "thug" and cheap-shot artist (go to the comments section) this profile from The Sporting News paints an entirely different picture: a natural leader who has overcome adversity in his personal life and constantly strived to achieve.  It's a very good read.

Projecting Aaron Rodgers' Future Success with the Green Bay Packers

By GBNATIVE (06/14/2007 02:24 PM)

Football Outsiders, an organization dedicated to NFL analysis through diligent statistical study, has developed what it considers a good indicator for the likelihood of success of quarterbacks taken high in the NFL draft.

Aaron Schatz, one of the Football Outsiders who also writes for ESPN: The Magazine and ESPN.com, noted in ESPN NFL Draft 2007 magazine:

"In 1998, the Indianapolis Colts faced one of the most important decisions in franchise history. With the No. 1 overall pick, would they take Manning or Leaf? Peyton proponents argued that he was more mature and accomplished. Leaf backers argued he had the stronger arm and more growth potential. But all the Colts really needed to know was four numbers: Manning started 45 college games, completing 63% of his passes. Leaf started just 24 games, completing 54% of his passes. The future couldn't be more clear.

It's true: College statistics really can predict NFL performance. For our 2006 Pro Football Prospectus, we studied 10 years' worth of drafts and discovered that the greatest indicator of NFL success for QBs taken in the first two rounds is the number of college games they started. Philip Rivers, for one, started 51 games at NC State.  Donovan McNabb started 49 college games and Carson Palmer started 45. On the flip side, busts-to-be Joey Harrington (28), Jim Druckenmiller (24), and Akili Smith (19) had relatively little starting experience."

What if we apply this formula to Green Bay Packers backup QB Aaron Rodgers, who has spent two years behind Brett Favre?  Rodgers was a first-round draft pick in 2005, taken 24th overall.  He played his college ball for the California Golden Bears, but there's a small snag.  Rodgers was not heavily recruited out of high school and spent two years in junior college, coming to Cal his junior season.  He started only 23 games for the Golden Bears, though in those years he recorded completion percentages of 61.6% and 66.1%, respectively.  By Schatz' indicator, Rodgers will shape up to be a bust due to his lack of experience at the helm of a working offense.  Will spending three years under the tutelage of future Hall of Famer Brett Favre help remedy this?  Only time will tell.

Another possible indicator of Aaron Rodger's success as a starter could be to look at how other pro quarterbacks schooled under Cal Coach Jeff Tedford have fared in the NFL.  By this measure, things look no better for Rodgers.  Some of Tedford's former field generals have turned out to be NFL flops: Akili Smith, Trent Dilfer, and Kyle Boller.  David Carr's success in Houston remains to be seen.  At any rate, whenever (and wherever) Rodgers does assume the starting position, there will be a lot of attention on whether he can break the mold and succeed in the NFL.

Packers' Harlan: CEO and Author

By Ms. Pacman (05/30/2007 01:43 PM)

While having to postpone his retirement, Bob Harlan, chairman and chief executive officer of the Green Bay Packers, has been traveling around signing copies of his new book, "Green and Golden Memories".

Harlan's replacement, John Jones had to take a leave of absence for personal reasons.  The rumor mill states that there are management concerns over Jones' ability to run the storied franchise, even though he was selected as Harlan's replacement over a year ago.  It is interesting to note that Bob Harlan had to retire as the Green Bay Packers' bylaws state that retirement is mandatory at the age of 70.  Due to necessity, Harlan has been able to stay on

The most likely internal candidate is Andrew Brandt, 46, the team's vice president of player finance/general counsel. He has been with the Packers since 1999 and is their chief contract negotiator and salary-cap manager.

Green and Golden Moments

Let's Play "Packers didya know? Top 10

By Touchdown Trivia (05/30/2007 12:46 PM)

Below are some well-known Green Bay Packers facts that one should have on the tip of their tongue if they intend on pursuing the title of Packers Pundit.

  1. The Green Bay Packers have 12 league championships, more than any other American professional football team.
  2. The Green Bay Packers were founded on August 11, 1919 by Curly Lambeau.
  3. "Green Bay Packers" is the oldest team name in use in the NFL.
  4. This is an easy one. The Green Bay Packers are the only non-profit, community-owned professional sports team in the US.
  5. As this is being written, there are roughly 74,000 people on the Green Bay Packers' season ticket wait list.
  6. From 1933-1994, the Green Bay Packers played not only in Green Bay at Lambeau Field (named that in 1957), but in Milwaukee at the now-torn-down County Stadium and for a time at State Fair Park.
  7. Green Bay Packers safety LeRoy Butler is credited with performing the first "Lambeau Leap" on December 26, 1993.

  9. Reggie White (#92) is the all-time Packers sack leader with 68.5.
  10. From 1992-2005, the Green Bay Packers held the best homefield record at 80-23 or .777 winning percentage on Lambeau Field.

Rookie Orientation Weekend Packers Style

By Packer Backer (05/06/2007 09:03 PM)

With Green Bay Packers Orientation Weekend coming to a close as this is being written. We should really re-cap some of the exciting happenings in Packerland.

Just prior to this Orientation Weekend, Ted Thompson announced the Packers signed seven non-drafted free agents in:

#8) Jerry Babb, QB 6-2, 225 - Louisiana Lafayette

#39) Ryan Powdrell, FB 5-11, 254 - Southern California

#54) Juwan Simpson, LB 6-2, 225 - Alabama

#58) Pat Murray, G 6-3, 310 - Truman State

#95) Daniel Muir, DT 6-2, 298 - Kent State

#97) Larry Birdine, DE 6-4, 265 - Oklahoma

#98) Rory Johnson, LB 6-0, 237 - Mississippi

University of Wisconsin Quarterback John Stocco went through three practices with hope that he could keep playing in the Dairy State (or at least learn under QB Brett Favre).

All rookies were in Green Bay to acquaint themselves with all-things Packers, both current and past.  Learning from the pages of the playbook as handed to them from Coach McCarthy and from the pages of Green Bay Packers history.  The legend of the team and of the field they will play on, Lambeau Field, is to be respected and just may bring out that little something extra in each one of these new players.
