The Wisconsin Badgers football program started in 1889.  They played two games that year, and lost them both.  Badger tickets were easy to find in those early years.  That poor beginning was followed up with some solid seasons.  By 1901, they were undefeated.  After that, a few decades past them by without much recognition.

In 1942, The Wisconsin Badgers beat Ohio State.  That win at Camp Randall gave them the chance to win the national championship.  Sadly, they lost the championship game by six points.  It took another ten years for the Badgers to rank number one again.

The worst of times came between the years 1963 and 1992.  Badger fans sat through one terrible season after another.  Barry Alverez brought the program back to their winning ways in his third year of leading the team.  In 1994, the Badgers faced UCLA in the Rose Bowl.  They defeated UCLA 21-16.  This was the first of three Rose Bowl victories for Barry Alverez. 

In 2005, Bret Bielema took over as head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers football program.  He hopes to keep the Badgers in their winning ways.  Badgers tickets became a hot item in Wisconsin.  

 Notable Badgers currently playing in the NFL would include: Brook Bollinger, Chris Chambers, Ron Dayne, Jamar Fletcher, Jonathan Orr, Jim Sorgi, Mark Tauscher, and B.J. Tucker.  Former NFL greats who played for Wisconsin would include: Randy Wright, Troy Vincent, Al Toon, Terrell Fletcher, and Darrell Bevell. When sitting amongst the Badger fans at Camp Randall, you will see six former players honored.  The six Badger football greats are: Ron Dayne, Alan Ameche, Elroy Hirsch, Dave Schreiner, Allan Shafer, and Pat Richter. 

In 2005, Camp Randall Stadium underwent a major renovation.  This renovation included the addition of seats, luxury boxes, program offices, and more.  The stadium now holds over 80,000 fans on game day.  It is truly a sea of Wisconsin Badger red when the team plays at home in Madison.
