For over forty years, Summerfest in Milwaukee has been a staple of Wisconsin's summer concert lineup. Held at the Henry Maier Festival Park, Summerfest hosts more than 700 bands on its 11 free stages. Several of the stages have undergone renovations in recent years, including the Harley-Davidson stage. The Harley-Davidson stage has improved its seating, lights, and installed screens to optimize visibility.
Summerfest's headliners perform at the Marcus Amphitheater. To see a headliner perform at the Marcus Amphitheater, you must purchase tickets for the show, but the ticket price includes Summerfest admission. Located next to the south gate, the Marcus Amphitheater hosted concerts by Pearl Jam, Britney Spears, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Metallica, Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, Prince, Tom Petty, and many more. For selected concerts at the Marcus Amphitheater, free general admissions are released to the public the day of the show. They are available on a first come, first serve basis to patrons who have previously purchased their admission to Summerfest. Summerfest tickets are reasonably priced when you think about how much entertainment is at your fingertips.
Besides music, Summerfest boasts delicious local food, thirst quenching Miller products, comedy shows, shopping, performances for children, and a children's play area. Each year on opening night, the Big Bang fireworks display dazzles crowds.
