Chicago Bears tickets

The Chicago Bears of the NFC North are rich in history.  It would not be fair to start anywhere but with Red Grange, the first high profile Chicago Bear who signed a contract to play pro football way back in 1925.  Prior to the signing of Grange, the Chicago Bears football team was actually the Decatur Staley's.

By 1926, the Bears team had drawn over 70,000 fans when they played a game in Los Angeles on January 16.  With the help of Ed Healy, and Red Grange, they defeated the LA Tigers by ten points.

George Halas stepped down as head coach in 1930, and asked Ralph Jones to lead the team.  By 1932, Bronko Nagurski was part of a Bears offensive team that won the NFL Championship.  Eleven thousand fans attended this championship game, and the field was 20 yards shy of the current 100 yards.

In the 1940's, one game certainly stands out from the rest.  On December 8, The Bears Crushed the Redskins 73-0 in a game played in the nation's capitol.  The score reflected the effective nature of the "T" formation.

The 1950's was not a great decade for Chicago.  They made it to the NFL championship game in 1958.  Halas stepped down as head coach once again.

The 1960's was a decade where the Chicago Bears roster included Dick Butkus, Bill George, and Gale Sayers.  Butkus was a linebacker that most opponents feared.  Gale Sayers set a record for touchdowns as a rookie with 22.  They won the NFL Championship game in 1963.

In 1970, the Monsters of the Midway played their last game at Wrigley Field.  The last game they played there was against the Packers.  The Bears defeated Green Bay by 18 points.  Chicago fans lined up to sit in the new Soldier Field stadium.  They faced the Steelers in that first game and won by just two points.

The Chicago Bears team of 1985 won the Super Bowl.  They defeated the New England Patriots in New Orleans on January 26, 1986.  They would go on to win the NFC title game once again, but lose to Washington 27-13.

In the 1990's, the Chicago Bears made it to the playoffs in 1991, but lost to the Cowboys in the first round.  Various coaches passed through Chicago in the 1990's.  Dick Jauron, was signed as coach in 1999.  Dave Wannsted coached the Bears in the early 1990's.  Mike Singletary now coaches the San Francisco 49rs, but played his last game as a Chicago bear in 1992.

In 2001, the Bears won the NFC Central title.  They finished the season with a 13-3 record.  The represented the NFC in Super Bowl XLI, but lost to the Colts, 29-17.  Rex Grossman had a stellar year, but could not manage to bring home the Lombardi Trophy.

The Bears now play in a renovated Soldier Field.  As they face some struggles on the field, the fan base still believes in their Chicago Bears.
