Camp Randall Stadium is home to the Wisconsin Badgers football team, and was originally built in 1917. For many years, there was a running track that surrounded the football field. That track limited the amount of seats available for the football fans. Once the track was removed, another 10,000 seats were added.
In 1930, the Wisconsin Field House was built at the south end of Camp Randall Stadium. The south bleachers abut the Field House's north wall. An upper deck was added in 1958. It resides on the west end of the stadium.
The Badgers played on natural grass until the late 1960's artificial turf was not the best playing surface for the athletes, but it remains to this date. There were no significant renovations at Camp Randall until 2002.
In 2002 the University added more sections to the south corners at Camp Randall. The major renovation included athletic offices, additional restrooms, and scoreboards. Camp Randall Stadium is now one of the most up to date facilities in college football.
Fans attending the football games will find the students in the north end, along with the famous Wisconsin Badger band. The Fifth Quarter is something to stick around for after the game. The band plays for around twenty minutes, win or lose.
